Grant Overview
Oregon's readiness to address homelessness among families is critical to the success of our Integrated Services for Homeless Families initiative. The state's 214,000 homeless individuals, including 36,000 families with children, demand a comprehensive support system that addresses both housing and mental health needs. Eligible applicants include nonprofit organizations with experience in housing services and mental health support. Unlike neighboring California, Oregon requires applicants to demonstrate existing partnerships with local housing agencies to ensure seamless service delivery. Oregon's geography, from the Pacific coastline to the high desert, presents unique challenges for service delivery, particularly in rural areas with limited infrastructure. The state's major industries, including technology and forestry, provide a foundation for workforce development, but also contribute to housing cost pressures. Oregon's population is distributed across urban and rural areas, with varying levels of access to mental health services. Our program will create partnerships among housing agencies, mental health providers, and community organizations to deliver a cohesive support system. Key outcomes include stabilized family housing situations and improved mental health outcomes.
